New forecasts show a very predominate cloud of radiation that seems to blanket most of the United states in the next few days. Looking at the map you can see that the brunt of this cloud will hit the Western United States as well as Canada very hard. With steady winds flowing from Japan and heading east ,we will continue to see this happen. As mentioned in other articles, food supplies have already seen reports of low levels of Radiation being tested, and with these new massive fallout clouds heading east I’m sure these levels will increase. As you will read below, this map was never intended for everyday citizens to find. Thanks to Alexander for his hard work at digging this up!
“While playing around with the URL’s for Japan nuclear iodine forecasts I discovered a nuclear radiation forecast that was accidentally placed on the ZAMG website. The scientists inadvertently uploaded a radiation forecast showing a massive cloud of Fukushima Xenon radiation spreading over Japan and the United States instead of the iodine forecast for May 9, 2011.
Being inquisitive, I “hacked” the URL and tried getting the May 9th forecast.
Much to my surprise the file “20110508_I-131_FUKU.gif” didn’t pull up i-131 dispersion plume. Instead it pulled the WORLD XENON radiation plume projection and it looks bad.”

“ATTENTION: These products are highly uncertain based on limited information for the source terms. Please use with caution and understand that the values are likely to change once we obtain more information on the overall nature of the accident. The products should be considered informational and only indicate ‘worst case scenario’ releases. From what we’ve learned recently, it seems releases of this magnitude have not yet occurred. Furthermore, these modeling products are based on global meteorological data, which are too coarse to provide reliable details of the transport of the plume across Japan.
Currently we are using a daily releases distributed evenly of 0.1E18 Bq I-131, 0.1 E17 Cs-137, and 0.1 E19 Xe-133 per day.”
Translation: we simply made up some radioisotope release numbers for Fukushima, plugged them into our computer simulation model and these are the results.
These are computer model simulations, not actual measurements. The output from the model simulations is only as good as the input assumptions.
Or more succintly, GIGO -> Garbage In, Garbage Out
Conclusion: no evidence that 133-Xe “is going across the US”. It would not make physics sense to have a high concentration of 133-Xe while the other radioisotopes are so low as to be at the border of detectability - many order of magnitude [powers of 10] below the natural background radiation that constantly surrounds us.
Seriously Typhoon….how much do they pay you? Nobody believes a word out of “their” mouths anymore. Get a life.
True, the model is only as good as the inputs, but we don’t know that this is garbage in. And what you quoted also doesn’t say the other isotopes are undetectable. All that said, I find the Higgins blog overreaches a lot - too bad we can’t read the actual levels on the chart.
typhoon; i certainly understand you point; but, may lack understanding of your position. Nuclear physicists have stated multiple times, in multiple articles that there is no safe level of radiation, may it be iodine, cesium, xenon, uranium or plutonium. The only real consolation, if there is any, is the shorter life of iodine; if that was the only isotope that was present and it is not.
My understanding is that all of the other isotopes that have been detected in the US will last our lifetimes (in our body) and some will last for multiples of generations (some 10′s of 1000′s of years).
They also state that is not just the miniscule amounts that will remain in your organs or bones for life; it is really the bio-accumulation that will become the real threat.
So the large wad of cesium (half life of 30yrs?); in your bones, that is radiating energy, damaging all of the cells around it, may not be a problem?
Or, really, is it the panic that would ensue and the damage that would occur; physically and financially; if the public found out that the milk they were drinking here on the west coast was causing bio-accumulations of multiple isotopes?
What would happen to the milk industry? Why is the FDA going to discontinue testing? They tested periodically with radnet, when there was not an incident and now that there are constant clouds of radiation over the US, they decide to quit?
I am very concerned and so should everyone else! and it is far from over!
I started this petition a little over one month ago. Please sign. Senators Feinstein, Boxer and President Obama will hear your concerns. http://www.change.org/petitions/urgent-fukushima-radioactive-fallout-food-safety-petition
As always DO YOUR OWN research! Don’t trust anyone’s option other then your own. Even the Government tells it’s own lies.
It’s amazing how when the levels of radiation go up they raise the bar. The facts are it’s bad no matter how much there is. If you were to take the levels of increased background radiation since the first atomic test to now and put it side by side with the levels of increased cancer and other cancer type diseases in the same time period my guess is you would find a direct corelation. The blaming of carcinogens and what ever else they could think of was a diversion to the fact that nuclear radiation has mutated the human body and casued great numbers of suffering from the start. Is there such a report, study and if so where is it?? Please prove or disprove this.
You boys are really clever!
